  1. Ischemic stroke patients from Lund Stroke Register (LSR) and the Sahlgenska Academy Study on Ischemic Stroke (SAHLSIS).
  2. NIHSS = NIH stroke scale. Multiple logistic regression models are controlling for covariates age, gender, diabetes mellitus, hypertension and current smoking when analyzing the entire sample as well as separate study groups and age groups. When analyzing males and females separately the covariate gender is omitted from these multivariable models. Pathogenetic ischemic stroke subtype: LVD = Large vessel disease; SVD = Small vessel disease; CE = Cardioembolic stroke. N/A = not applicable due to absence of sampling units with NIHSS ≥ 16.
