1. Encephalopathy with seizures, myoclonus, hallucinations, or stroke-like episodes 2. Thyroid disease (subclinical or mild overt) 3. MRI scan of brain – normal or with nonspecific abnormalities 4. Serum thyroid antibodies present 5. Absence of other neuronal antibodies in serum or CSF 6. Exclusion of alternative causes of encephalopathy by differential diagnosis |
